Looking for skilled woodworkers?

Brooklyn Woods serves motivated New Yorkers who want to start careers in skilled woodworking and employers who want to hire trained woodworkers.  Brooklyn Woods trains approximately 75 individuals annually in our state-of-the-art woodworking shop in Gowanus, Brooklyn.  More than 125 companies employ Brooklyn Woods graduates.

Qualifications
Brooklyn Woods applicants are carefully pre-screened during a multi-part selection process including written math and reading assessments, in-person interviews and hands-on testing.

Selected participants complete 8 weeks of full-time training before being placed on jobs.

To graduate, trainees must demonstrate competence in the safe use and proper care of hand and power tools, shop production, wood technology, finishing techniques, cabinet installation, and mechanical drawing.  Trainees are also instructed in techniques for communicating with supervisors, and job search and interview skills.  Trainees receive real-life experience working on actual jobs for paying customers.
