BWI now offers a FREE job training and driver’s education course to prepare out of work New Yorkers for the NYS road test and permanent employment.
- 5-hour pre-licensing course; up to 30 hours of driving lessons; road test vehicle; all licensing and testing fees.
- 60 hours of classroom training with emphasis on job readiness, computer skills, and job development.
- Assistance in either finding a job OR gaining acceptance into a competitive skills training program.
- Pre-program Permit Prep workshop available
Ready to put yourself in the driver’s seat?
To apply you must be
- At least 18 years old
- A New York City resident and legally eligible to work in the U.S.
- Unemployed, very low-income or receiving public assistance
- Available to train full-time and work full-time immediately after graduation
And meet at least one of our current recruitment priorities
- Female 18-24 years old
- Female parent of a child under 18
- Court-involved (probation, parole) or released from incarceration within the last 12 months
- TANF-eligible or receiving public assistance
