Brooklyn Workforce Innovations helps jobless and working poor New Yorkers establish careers in sectors that offer good wages and opportunities for advancement.

In 2010:

BWI trained 585 unemployed or low-income New Yorkers for new careers.

BWI has placed nearly 9 out of 10 graduates – 440 individuals – into jobs in their field.

The average starting wage for a BWI graduate was almost $13/hour; 76% higher than the minimum wage.

And only half way into 2011, 1/3 of our beneficiaries have already received raises, averaging more than $2.25/hour. Our grads continue to advance into higher-paying positions, continually building on the skills they built while in BWI training programs.
