Brooklyn Workforce Innovations identifies sectors of the economy that offer good starting wages to skilled entry-level workers, and opportunities to advance over time. We recruit jobless and working poor New Yorkers who want to start a new career and offer them free full-time training leading to industry-recognized credentials, followed by two years of job placement and career services.
BWI offers four sector-based training programs and one general job readiness certification program:
Brooklyn Networks for careers in voice and data telecommunications cable installation
Brooklyn Woods for careers in skilled woodworking and green cabinetmaking
The “Made in NY” PA Training Program for careers in TV and film production
New York Drives for entry on a career path while earning a NYS driver’s license
Red Hook on the Road for careers in commercial driving
In partnership with Fifth Avenue Committee, Inc., BWI also offers:
Single Stop Benefits screening, on-site application and advocacy; and free legal, financial and tax preparation services, for all BWI and FAC participants
Building Works A pre-apprenticeship training program for the building trades
FirstSource Staffing New York City’s premier full-service social purpose staffing company
