Building Works

Brooklyn Workforce Innovations is proud to partner with the New York City District Council of Carpenters on Building Works, a pre-apprenticeship skills training program in construction and environmental remediation. This intensive 17-week program provides young men and women with a thorough introduction to the building trades and the opportunity to earn 13 combined licenses and certificates. Graduates work as Carpenters, Sheet Metal Workers, Stationary Engineers, Operating Engineers, Painters, Laborers, and Elevator Engineers.

BWI recruits participants for Building Works and provides them with pre-program readiness and training to ensure their success.

How to Apply
Building Works is offered once per year in the fall. The application process begins in the summer. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, eligible to work in the U.S., physically able to do the work, have a HSD or GED at the time of application and have the ability to read and do math at the 8th grade level.
